CBMGA Pruning Workshop

January 27 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

There will be a Pruning Workshop held at the Titus county Extension Office in our Demonstration Gardens.

Roger Farr will be demonstrating how to prune specific plants in the Demonstration Gardens.

Monday, January 27 from 9 AM to noon at AgriLife. We will hold the workshop even if the weather is cold and will only cancel if it is actively raining, snowing, or sleeting. This workshop will be one hour of instruction inside followed by two hours of plant pruning activities in some of the beds at AgriLife. You will receive 3 CEUs for your participation. You will also, where possible, have the opportunity to make dormant wood cuttings out of your pruned material both for the plant sale and for your personal use. CBMGA will supply the pots and soil for you to do this.

For the workshops, wear clothes that can get dirty and stained, and in layers appropriate for the outside weather.
Bring your hand pruners and loppers, if you have them. We’ll show you how to maintain them and will sharpen them if necessary. We’ll also have a few “loaner” tools for you to use.
Wear tight-fitting “mechanics” gloves ($4 at Harbor Freight, something more than jersey knit) for pruning, and bring gauntlet gloves for rose work, if you have them.
