Class 14 Lisa Egner TXMG and TX Master Naturalist will present a program on Etymology. How to identify the various beneficial and harmful pest insects that we all have each year. She will present different methods of controlling pest insects from natural biological controls to timing of planting, to least harmful chemical controls. How to encourage the good insects and discourage the pests! She will also speak on perennial, annual, native and non-native heirloom and Texas Tough plants that not only survive but thrive locally year after year. Her and her husband have an extensive farm where they grow and sell plants. Lisa will be able to answer a wide array of questions about plants, animals, birds, pollinators and is a local expert on bats.
I hope to see many of CBMG attending these classes. Not only do we each learn more about these topics, when we have bigger attendance we end up with more speakers that are willing to drive 1&1/2 hours to 3 hours simply because they know we have an enthusiastic group, that is involved in many different community projects.
