Our Azalea Lane was created in late summer/early fall of 2021. We realized that with Encore® azaleas, we had what we thought would be the perfect spot for azaleas. We transitioned what was our Pumpkin and Pea Patch into Azalea Lane. Encore® azaleas need considerable sunlight to bloom properly. All azaleas, including Encore® azaleas, need good drainage. Their roots should never dry out completely but they should also not just sit in water. The area was originally constructed using several loads of mulch to start to even out the area. That mulch has decomposed into a very rich soil. There are hundreds of different azaleas, but we decided to use just the Encore® variety of azaleas. As you walk through Azalea Lane starting at the north end of our Greenhouse/Storage, you will see intermediate Encore® Azaleas on the left side and dwarf Encore® Azaleas on the right side. As you approach the end of Azalea Lane, the lane opens into a more open area bordered by these beautiful azaleas. Then it is just a short walk across a grassy area to the entrance of our Woodland Trail where you can see a natural East Texas Woodland area with the various species of trees identified.
Below you will see the list of the Encore® Azaleas we have selected for our Azalea Lane, with links to a page on each of the azaleas in our Azalea Lane. The azaleas in Azalea Lane are not all of the Encore® Azaleas available. To view all of the Encore® azaleas available, go to Encore® Azaleas.
